sad

Two stars have been extinguished in one day. Farrah Fawcett and Michael Jackson RIP. I was never very familiar with their work other than in passing the tv or news. But I hope they were ready to meet the Lord. God help their families in this time of mourning.

Dr today and Bento tonight
Jun. 16th, 2009 | 09:17 pm
Well I went to the Dr today and it wasn't as horrific as I'd imagined it might be. They just basically told me what I knew about sugar [it was 312 so I still have a LOT of work ahead in getting it down]
And she wants me to soak my feet so that the place on my toe will kind of wash away the dead skin and she can see where the underlying problem is. Said she thinks since it keeps coming back it could be a wart.. I somehow am not so sure. But anyway.
I got mom's work bento ready for tomorrow, and I tried to get creative though she really didn't know what she wanted.

Left: Top is 2x reese cups, bottom is cornbread puffs on colorful toothpicks
Right: Pepperjack cheesy ramen noodles with carrot flowers and an american tigger bouncing in the middle.
Hope she likes!

Piccy's piccy's piccy's
Jun. 15th, 2009 | 12:24 am
This week I have been really shorted on hours -grumbles about summer hours-. But part is my fault to, I had to request Tuesday off for a Dr. Appt and then I work on Thursday. And that's it. Can you believe that? -sigh- Well anyway, I'll still be making bento's because Mom still works this week fully and she agreed to allow me to make her lunches too.
I also got a bunch of new toys and have been experimenting with my puff skillet and knife set. I made cinnamon pancake puffs this morning, here's a picture:

I was thinking about trying to make "Surprise Muffins" or whatever mix I decide to use and while the batter is still moist, inserting a piece of fruit or veggie so it's a surprise when you bite into it. I wonder what types of fruits and veggies would cook well like that?
I've also added a pic of Mom's 1st Bento, but under a cut.
I got some awesome cutters and food markers at Michaels the other day so as you can see, I played around a bit and I think it turned out really pretty.
Left: Pepperjack cheese flowers over Prima della brown sugar ham and pj cheese rollups.
Right: Cottage Cheese in the red heart cup and grapes hidden underneath kiwi stars.

That was unexpected...!
Jun. 13th, 2009 | 02:25 am
Well, I get off work Thursday to see my Aunt in the booth with Mom. When I come up to the table after clocking out, they say hi and tell me my Aunt just bought us a new microwave. =O We went the whole week hot-plate cooking lol, so I was just a lil happy about that. It's a nice one too, so now my bento's can be a bit more fancy again. Sometimes she can be awesome.
HOPEULLY, I'll get a phone card tomorrow. Got the money just need to get to the store. And we have several places to go and to pay my wireless net bill. I never thought updating my card would cause such a stir [stupid number on back grr] all because the old one practically split down the middle.. how in the world did that happen anyway?
In other news, my mom says she'd let me do bento lunch for her to take to work so yay! More healthy and pretty meal planning. Hopefully, I can start soon I need to get her a bento box also. <3 Oh and I bought more toys today. -.- I'ma go broke if I ain't careful.
I got a 15 piece cutlery set for $10 and a skillet that looks like a muffin pan [called a puff maker] I can make puffy round pancakes, omelets, or whatever else I decide to fry up in it. That also came with a spice shaker, a brush, some bamboo sticks for turning the puffs with, and a frosting injection or topper thing [I don't know it's proper name but it's similar to a cake frosting writer.]
Need to retrieve my work schedule since I didn't work on Friday when it was posted. I requested the 16th off since I have a Dr. appointment but since the request book had mysteriously vanished -again- I had to leave a note on the office desk. I hope the scheduling manager got it. >.< I'd rather work than go to the Dr. but this infection hasn't completely gone yet.. those antibiotics would have totally kicked butt if I'd had probably one more week of them, now it kind of feels like my leg is starting to revert back to the way it was before all this. Guh!

Blogging my lunches
Jun. 1st, 2009 | 02:10 pm
mood:
cheerful
music: Motions - Matthew West
I'm going to start keeping a journal here on my lunches as well, so I can get a visual idea of the things I'm eating. I want to eat healthier and get my diabetes down so I can feel better. I recently got an infection in my leg due to a diabetic sore on my foot. When I went to the ER my sugar was 397 and if my other diabetic tests had showed bad results they would have admitted me - fortunately it was only my glucose reading that was sky high so I got to go home. But now, I've kind of had a mini-epiphany. It could have been worse, and though I'm REALLY dumb when it comes to math I've discovered a way to possibly control my numbers of calories/carbs/etc. That is Japanese style bento. I read that gauging the ML of the box, is about what you would consume in calories so perhaps I can work myself up to 3 squares on bento type planned meals.
Right now, I'm only planning for work lunches but as soon as fridge space, and finances are more available I plan on eating totally on bento planned foods. I figure if I can put in healthy veggies, fruits, a grain, a meat, etc from the food groups I can lose weight and lower my blood sugar. It very well could be a win win situation for me. I pray and hope so. Plus, it's really FUN! And that's the hook for me.. I'm very easily discouraged [especially when it comes to food. It's a love/hate relationship.] and making visually PRETTY & HEALTHY meals has become an art form to me and I'm naturally inclined to creativity. I love stuff like that, so I think this will be good for me as a hobby too.
So, let's bring this post up to date. I started a boxed lunch [I hadn't received my official bento box yet] last Tuesday.

Update
Jan. 17th, 2009 | 07:30 pm
It's been a little while since I last updated. It's been a hectic new years. But all in all a decent new years. And it's gotten even better! Today, we bought another puppy which now brings us to: Baby, Mirabelle, Jose, and now Penny Bleu. Penny Bleu is a full blooded pedigreed Papillon, 4th gen. She's a long hair, tan and white teddy bear with one brown eye and one blue eye. Actually the blue eye is only 3 quarters blue. The other 1 quarter is brown like the other. She is a very beautiful baby whose only about 4 months old. I'll have pics soon, she's going to get a full vet visit the end of the coming week so I must get 'first baby pics.' Like Mirabelle, expect frufruing =P
Changing the subject a bit, I'm also planning on creating a journal for a sim family I've created and plan to follow through generations. I'm hoping to see how my sims evolve again. I did this with a couple of families in pleasantview a long while back but they got erased with my computer troubles at the time. :(
Anyway, I will probably be talking a lot about my new girl. <3

Sweet Peanut
Dec. 29th, 2008 | 12:54 am
My poor guinea pig, Peanut, has in the past couple weeks developed an abcess on his left side and when I discovered the injury it was about the size of a golf ball. I immediately took my baby to the vet and she put him on oral doses of baytril. So, I can definitely see improvement in his abcess, [it's now about the size of a large marble.] but I had to feel sorry for him tonight.
I took him out for his second dose of baytril and he ran from me [kind of unusual but I think it's just cause he knows what time it is.] and I think that bit of exertion got his side to draining pretty excessively so I had to play vet and get a warm compress on his side to dab off the infection. He seemed more comfortable with that than the meds. I think I got more of that on the table than inside him.
But in the end, he is improving which is the main thing. Poor baby -cuddles-

Work today sucked
Dec. 15th, 2008 | 07:41 pm
Well, the work day as a whole did not suck, thank God. But I get really upset when certain coworkers act like it's going to kill them to give me a 2 minute [or less] bathroom break. Especially when smoker's get at least 5 minutes. Apparently, when I asked someone else had asked ahead of me and that's OK but we weren't busy at the time, and when I made known that I STILL had to go when she came back there was a big deal over it. Now, I never heard it, but the girl that had to go ahead of me told me she had just got all chewed out and said it was probably a good idea to get a Dr.'s note since she got freaked out on over it. [Note, no one asked for a smoke break at this time, but it's a general example that happens where I work]
OK. Basic human need, over smoke break. Which one would be more priority? I could understand if I asked while we had 325234543 cars in drive thru but we had 1, if that I think I had just cleared that one when I asked again. And if it was some of the older women, there wouldn't even be a single word spoken about it. I've not been there any 6-8 years or longer, but I have been there about 2 years and 2 or 3 months. I've kind of gotten established and seem to be well-liked. And it's only one manager that seems to get all bent out of shape over it.
But overall the day was just decent. I really even wasn't suppose to work today, but I needed the hours and I was scheduled on Wednesday but I need off to go with mom to her Heart Doctor.
This week's schedule will be as follows:
Monday: 7am - 3pm [Done!]
Tuesday: 7am - 3pm
Wednesday: Off
Thursday: 7am - 3pm
Friday: 7am - 3pm
Saturday & Sunday: Off
Now to go cool off by farming and fishing in my Island of Happiness Harvest Moon game. -zooms to her DS-

~A return from the void.~
Dec. 14th, 2008 | 04:10 pm
Well, it appears I've yet again escaped from the void that keeps stalking me and threatening to keep me quiet and invisible. This time, I've been on the surface for a while, more less lingering through communities rather than keeping up my own blog. But, now at the end of another year, I intend to change that because frankly I need space to get things off my chest. So, for a while there will be more contemplations, and for certain more prayer. Lord knows, I need it.
To update to where we stand today, this year has been a roller coaster ride. Actually in some aspects the last 'several' years have been quite.. loopy, in a very roller coaster way. Church has been a very focal part in the last three to four years, well really it always has been, but the church I was particularly going to. I think I grew the most in this church, but also sustained several hard knocks and punches. Right now, I'm on the outside not looking in. I feel like the shed weight from a cargo ship in the middle of a storm. Who knows though, maybe they were the shed weight from my ship in the middle of a typhoon. In some aspects I almost feel as though I've suffered a death, because of how I've grown. I miss how it was, and I wonder if maybe as I get older, change is becoming harder for me? But nothing is ever the same once it changes and lines are crossed. -sigh- But where does that leave me? And did I grow spiritually, or just as a person? It's hard to say.
On the home front, I've adopted some wonderful pets that I dote on like they were my human babies. Since I opened this current journal I've adopted a Papillon-Chihuahua mix named Mirabelle. She will be two years old on January 30th! Then we adopted Jose who is a full-blooded Chihuahua and serves as Mirabelle's future husband =P Finally, I adopted three guinea pigs this year. All three are boys and are the cutest ever. Peanut, 4 months old. Sugardaddy, 4 months old. Little Kier, 4-5 weeks old. Peanut was my first adopted piggy. He's a calico abbyssinian. Sugardaddy was adopted from a family highly allergic to him and he's a Pink-Eyed-White piggy with smooth fur. And my recent addition, Little Kier [his full name is Kieran] is a solid black abbyssinian with a white stripe going down his nose and another down his shoulder and front leg. He reminds me of a miniature skunk!
Peanut is a complete veggie nut. His favorite veggie is tomatoes, but he loves romaine, leaf, red and endive lettuces, carrots, and orange/stoplight peppers. Sugardaddy will eat his veggies but he's more of a hay-boy. He'll giddyup horsey whenever I put in his favorite hay. I've given them Timothy Hay, Autumn Sweet Grass, and Alfalfa. Autumn Sweet Grass is Sugardaddy's ultimate favorite but he enjoys ALL. Little Kier is still getting used to everything so, he's just starting to warm up to a little lettuce and shredded carrot. He enjoys his hay too, but so far he's in a constant state of thirst! So he's the water baby =P
I just got a new [albiet cheapo] digicam so I'll probably upload a few pics to show off once I figure out how to work it.
I've been wanting to rant some, so I'll probably be a posty-devil for a little bit so bear with me. It'll be out of my system soon.
